Welcome back to part 2 of the A,B,C’s of Working From Home (WFH). This week we’re covering even more tips to help you smash your working days from home!
Are you ready to excel your week? Keep reading!
We cannot stress enough how much setting goals can make a difference to your mindset! Try to set yourself daily, weekly or monthly goals so you can hold yourself accountable. Specific, realistic goals work best. When it comes to making a change, the people who succeed are those who set realistic and specific ones. You can tailor these to both work & personal goals.
Did you know, it can take as little as 18 days for a habit to stick? In under 3 weeks you could create a habit that is beneficial to you. This could be anything, from waking up half an hour earlier to doing yoga 3 times a week. Whatever you want to do, try to stick it out for 3 weeks & then watch it become part of your routine without struggle!
Ever tried switching your shower to cold just before you get out of it? Having a short intense burst of cold water at the end of your shower will cause you to breathe more deeply and boost your heart rate. This will make you feel more mentally alert, and perhaps even more ready to take on the working day!
We’re all familiar with the new normal now, in fact, we can’t even remember what the old normal was like! But in years to come, it will be fascinating to reminisce on how life was during these times. Try jotting down some personal notes, this can be something significant or small, in a journal so you can look back & remember exactly what you were doing during this time, it will make for an interesting read!
You know what they say, knowledge is power. And what better time to start brushing up on your knowledge than during a global pandemic! You can use this time to scrub up on some general knowledge, or take the time to learn a bit more about that work department you’ve always been intrigued to work in, you never know how it might come in handy.
This may sound simple, but you would be surprised at the number of people who don’t take a lunch break at home because they don’t feel like they need to. However, taking a break allows your mind to rest, recharge and refocus, which can directly improve your productivity for the rest of the day. You can modify your breaks to your preferences, so if multiple, short breaks works best for you, go for it!

You may be thinking, how can I network whilst I’m sitting at home with no one around? Well, we think this is a great opportunity to spread your networking antennas and start chatting! Try speaking to people who are usually outside of your friendship/work group who wouldn’t usually be in your social circle. The plus side, people generally have more time to speak to you when working from home, and for those who can get stage fright, you can have a conversation virtually which helps with the first time nerves!
It is totally normal to feel overwhelmed during this period. We know we can give you loads of our best tips, but sometimes you just feel crap! That is totally ok. If you have a down day, allow yourself to feel that way & acknowledge those feelings. Acknowledging your mental health is a great first step to getting through the tough times. Do what you need to do to get through the day and try to switch off from work once you’ve finished - you got this!
Sometimes it’s difficult to feel like you have a purpose each and every day when you are repeating the same job day in day out. But guess what, you do! Try to spend some time exploring your interests, is there a topic you enjoy regularly discussing at work, or sharing on your social media? Do you like to talk about History? Or do you love giving money-saving advice? Figuring out these may reveal the things that give you purpose in life, so once you find them, explore them!
